Job Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server. The position will also work with client team and company leadership to develop and support existing home health and hospice applications.
Primary development platform will be MSSQL 2008/C#/Citrix.
Primary Duties will include:
• Identify business requirements of database.
• Plan, design, schedule and coordinate database analysis, design, development, and deployment.
• Provide primary DBA support for all HCHB SQL Server production, development, test, training and QA environments.
• Work with HCHB development teams within the confines of active projects to ensure all needed database changes are coordinated and included in overall project plan.
• Govern the creation and maintenance of new and existing database objects. Review, approve and coordinate all changes to any HCHB database environment.
• Advise HCHB development on efficient coding practices and use of SQL scripts and T-SQL procedural logic within the confines of user stored procedures.
Additional Duties will include:
• Create, maintain and refresh required SQL Server instances/databases for all HCHB environments as needed.
• Monitor error logs, database and log space, user activity and resource utilization of HCHB production environments, proactively taking corrective actions as needed.
• Monitor system resources of HCHB database servers to assure production environments meet performance and availability requirements.
• Use local scripts and third-party tools to monitor SQL Server performance, space, SQL activity and recommend tuning adjustments as needed.
• Support HCHB local and remote backup and recovery operations.
• Support disaster recovery replication between HCHB live and remote hot backup data center locations.
• Understand and maintain documentation of dependencies between the different HCHB database environments.
• Work independently to track outstanding tasks and projects, monitor progress, plan workload and dependencies, resolve resource conflicts and provide status reports to reporting manager.
Job Skills/Requirements
1. At least 10 years of application development experience including 5 years of SQL Server database development, analysis and administration. Knowledge of SQL Server 2008 is required.
2. Proficient in all aspects of T-SQL development (stored procedures, triggers, functions, etc.)
3. Excellent Organizational and Communication skills.
4. Ability to prioritize and take ownership of multiple tasks according to the needs of HCHB customers and management.
Qualifications
1. Bachelors degree in computer science, business, math or related (equivalent experience considered)
2. MCDBA/MCITP certification a plus.
